China's first national standard for baby textile products introduced

A few days ago, China's first mandatory national standard specifically for baby textile products was introduced and will be formally implemented on June 1 next year. Zaozhuang is one of the important textile producing areas in the country. All enterprises should respond to the standards in advance.

The standard set for this time is GB31701-2015 “Technical Code for Safety of Textile Products for Infants and Children”. The age of infants is 36 months and 3 to 14 years old. The transition period is May 31, 2018. During the transition period, products that were produced before June 1, 2016 and meet the requirements of relevant standards are allowed to continue to be sold in the market. From June 1, 2018, all related products on the market must meet the requirements of this standard. This standard further stipulates various safety technical requirements. After the official implementation, the baby textile industry may face a situation of reshuffling. Small and micro apparel enterprises may be eliminated by the market if they do not respond to it in a timely manner.

The export volume of Zaozhuang textile and clothing ranks in the forefront of Shandong Province for many years in a row. When the entire industry encounters multiple pressure and resistance barriers, it still maintains a relatively strong momentum of development. According to statistics, 40% of textiles and garments that are produced, sold, and exported are babies and children. Products, while the vast majority of textile and garment companies are small and micro enterprises, in the face of the introduction of GB31701, they should respond as soon as possible and take the initiative in the market for sustainable development. To this end, Zaozhuang City Inspection and Quarantine Bureau recommends that textile and garment enterprises: to strengthen the learning of new standards, through the training of relevant departments and online media and WeChat public platform, to master the new standard requirements, to do a good job in response; strict grasp of raw and auxiliary materials Feed intake, ensure the quality and safety of raw and auxiliary materials from the source; attach great importance to the safety of baby clothing design to ensure compliance with the standards; focus on printing and dyeing and other key processes to ensure that plasticizers and heavy metals do not exceed the limited amount requirements; make full use of the standard implementation During the transitional period, the upgrading of technology is accelerated; due to the long production and sales cycle of textile products, it takes a certain period of time to digest the inventory. Each company should carry out production in accordance with new standards in advance to ensure that the product quality and safety meet the requirements after the implementation of the new standard.
