Spring has officially arrived here in Virginia, and there's something about the sight of blooming crocuses and daffodils that just puts me in the mood for sewing. Right now, I'm working on a modified V-neck Terrace Dress in a beautiful wine-colored linen, and I can't help but daydream about creating the perfect spring capsule wardrobe—something I'd love to do if anyone were willing to take my kids away for a week. Spoiler alert: that’s not happening anytime soon. Still, it’s fun to imagine, isn’t it?
This ideal spring capsule includes a pair of pants, a skirt, a dress, and three tops that could easily pair with both the pants and the skirt.

Clockwise from the top left:
1. In Virginia, summers get hot and sticky, so lightweight, loose-fitting pants paired with a relaxed linen tank top seem like the perfect combo. I adore this pairing, especially when it’s made using the Breezy Blouse and the Montauk Trousers with a wider leg. It’s casual yet stylish—exactly what you need for balmy summer days.
2. Of course, breezy dresses are another favorite for warmer weather, and linen is my go-to fabric for them. My current Terrace Dress project feels very similar to this idea. If I were to expand my options, the Cappuccino Dress, the Cinema Dress, and the Gelato Dress are fantastic choices for a flowy, summery look.
3. A polished yet effortless top is always essential in the spring. This delicate floral blouse would be stunning made from the Weekend Getaway pattern. Don’t you agree?
4. Lengthening the skirt and switching to denim gives it a whole new vibe. With the Extra-Sharp Pencil Skirt and the Maritime Knit Top, this outfit is right up my alley. Truthfully, I’ve been meaning to sew another Maritime—it got ruined while I was trying to mouse-proof our garage with some spray foam.
So, what about you? Is spring inspiring you to dive into some sewing projects? Let me know what you’re planning in the comments below!
