On Tuesday, the trading price of cotton in major northern Indian markets dropped by Rs. 10-15 per maund, with high-priced purchases seeing a noticeable decline. This comes after a period of strong demand from both exporters and domestic buyers, which had driven prices upward. As a result, some traders have become more cautious, leading to a reduction in high-price transactions.
Market sources indicate that forward delivery prices have hit a record high of Rs. 3,500 per maund, reflecting robust demand. In Punjab, the current delivery price ranges between Rs. 3,460 and Rs. 3,520 per maund, while Haryana is currently offering prices from Rs. 3,460 to Rs. 3,500. Meanwhile, Rajasthan remains slightly lower, with prices between Rs. 3,310 and Rs. 3,360 per maund.
Looking at historical data, Punjab saw delivery prices of Rs. 3,300 per maund after October, and Rs. 3,240 per maund in November. Similarly, Haryana maintained consistent delivery prices of Rs. 3,250 per maund for both October and November. These figures highlight the fluctuating nature of the market and the ongoing balance between supply and demand.
As the season progresses, traders are closely monitoring price trends and adjusting their strategies accordingly. With strong demand still evident, the cotton market remains dynamic, and further fluctuations are expected in the coming weeks.
