It was learned from the border inspection authorities that the National Bank of Vietnam (the Central Bank) issued a notice No. 11/2014/TT-NHNN, which stipulated that from May 15th, Vietnamese citizens and foreign citizens will be prohibited from carrying gold or gold raw materials from Vietnam. The notice allows for the carrying of gold jewellery or gold artwork with a total weight of up to 300 grams. If the upper limit is exceeded, the customs officer is required to declare and pay the relevant fees. Since May 2012, the National Bank of Vietnam has become the only gold importer in Vietnam, in order to manage the domestic gold market in Vietnam. The notice issued this time replaced the 1165/2001/QD-NHNN notice on the permit to carry gold out of Vietnam.
