China's “13th Five-Year” Textile Development Forum was held in Jilin City on the 8th. Du Yuzhou, honorary president of the China Textile Industry Federation, expressed at the forum that the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” of the textile industry has formally begun the preliminary investigation.

Du Yuzhou disclosed some of the ideas for the industry planning in his speech. He said that currently the textile industry is in a slow recovery. The future development of the textile industry is based on emerging technologies. Specifically, it should be based on intelligence, digitization, and information. It is a fusion of production services and manufacturing. .

Industry sources told reporters that under the framework of this development, chemical fiber, especially specialty fibers, is expected to become a carrier for connecting intelligence, digitalization, and information, and is also expected to become one of the focuses of the “13th Five-Year Plan” of the textile industry.

This reporter learned that special fibers can be widely used in defense industry, aerospace, transportation, medical and health, marine aquaculture and communications departments. Even in the field of synthetic fibers, polyvinyl chloride fibers can be used as industrial filter cloths, films, nautical clothing, swimwear, etc.; vinyl chloride fibers are suitable for making fireproof clothing for pilots and firefighters.

At the same forum, Zhao Xiangdong, vice president of the China Chemical Fiber Association, throws out the “bottoming” of the chemical fiber industry. He said that the chemical fiber market has been at a low level for 10 years and there is almost no downside. Judging from the current situation, the traditional peak season in the second half of the year is worth the industry's expectation. It is estimated that the annual output this year will be 43.5 million tons, an increase of 6%; the total profit will increase from the previous year.

Zhao Xiangdong said that he is optimistic about the future development of the chemical fiber industry. Whether it is the demand for global fiber, urbanization and the potential for domestic demand stimulated by agricultural modernization, or the expansion of applied fields, all have created conditions for the expansion of chemical fiber demand.

In terms of specific types of development, the future of the chemical fiber industry will focus on the development of "high-tech fibers," "functional fibers," and "differentiated fibers."
