This jade carving work “Chinese Dream” is carved from jade. The upper part is a soaring dragon, representing the Chinese nation. Li Yu has been obsessed with jade carving for 50 years. He has been indissoluble with jade carving since he was 21 years old. After he was demobilized from the army in March 1965, at the age of 21, he was assigned to work at the Changchun City Jade Carving Factory (formerly Changchun City Arts and Crafts Factory). Since then, he has begun to study jade carving techniques. In order to make the flowers and birds vivid, he raised his family home. Many species of flowers and birds, with flowers and birds throughout the day as a companion, he has also visited Beijing, Liaoning, Xinjiang and other places to learn skills, seeking jade carving art excellence. After retirement, he became even more obsessed with jade carving works. In 2011, he used jade to create a “dragon's nine sons” for the Year of the Dragon.
